For nearly fifty years, Schilke trumpets and cornets have defined a generation of professional brass playing in performance and recording. Distinguished by their outstanding intonation, response, and projection, the Schilke Company is generally acknowledged for producing the finest built brass instruments of their kind in the world.

Referred to as “Custom Built”, they make each instrument by hand with the same sense of attention and detail of a custom maker. All parts are produced at the facility in Melrose Park, IL USA. They start with a valve set and build out. Their valves and slides are fit at the tightest tolerences and have set a standard within the industry. They hand fit each brace, hand strap and scrape each horn rather than use a de-lead solution to clean excess solder from the joints. Not only does this improve the aesthetic of the trumpet giving it a cleaner look but they also believe it makes the joint stronger.

B1 Bb:

The B1 was the preferred Bb trumpet of Renold Schilke and is the basis in design for the other B series instruments. Distinguished by its free and open feel, this trumpet is among their most popular models, allowing the player diversity in sound color from a rich, full bodied dark sound to a brilliant ringing tone when desired. It has .460” medium large bore and a 5” yellow brass bell with a #1 large taper. Trumpets are available in the highest quality silver or gold plated finish. B2 Bb:

This medium large bore model is the perfect choice for the performer that desires more resistance then the B1 yet plays broader and brighter than the model B5. It has a .460” medium large bore and a 5” yellow brass bell with a #3 medium taper. Trumpets are available in the highest quality silver or gold plated finish. The bell is also available in sterling silver or beryllium.

B3 Bb:

This versatile large bore model plays with added brilliance, immediate response and balance in color and feel throughout the range from top to bottom. The B3 is ideal for the player looking for a “big horn feel” yet with more resistance than the X3 model. It has a .463” large bore and a 5” yellow brass bell with a #3 medium taper. B4 Bb:

This medium bore model tends to play broader yet brighter than the model B6. The B4 will appeal to a player looking for a brilliant sound but desires efficiency with additional resistance. B5 Bb:

The B5 model has slightly more resistance than the B1 with a more compact sound. This model provides flexibility in sound color with continuity in timbre in all registers and outstanding projection. B6 Bb:

The classic medium bore trumpet, the B6 has been an extremely popular choice for the commercial player. B7 Bb:

S22 Bb:

This large bore model provides an excellent focus in sound with an emphasis on center of tone and slotting security. S22-HD Heavy Design Bb:

Schilke Heavy Design trumpets are based off the S Series models, for the symphonic or orchestral musician. Built to order, the HD models use a heavier receiver and mouthpipe, thicker tubing and a heavy gauge, one piece “seamed” yellow brass bell. The additional mass offers a very thick, powerful sound that is focused with wonderful projection. The S22-HD Bb features a large .463” bore with a heavy gauge #2 medium large taper yellow brass bell. It has a heavy mouthpipe and receiver. This trumpet is available in the highest quality silver or gold plated finish.

S32 Bb:

One of their most popular Bb models, the S32 is ideal for the player that desires an instrument designed for the classical musician that offers an ease of response but slightly more resistance than the B1 or B5 models. S32-HD Heavy Design Bb:

S42L-JF Faddis Style Bb:

Built to the specifications of the legendary jazz artist, musician, conductor, composer and educator Jon Faddis, this exchangeable bell instrument includes a custom round tuning slide without waterkey, adjustable tuning bell soundpost, heavy valve caps, and no “nibs” on the 2nd valve slide. It has a .450” medium bore and a 5” yellow brass tuning bell with a #2 medium large taper. Trumpets are available in the highest quality silver or gold plated finish. X3 Bb:

This large bore model plays big and broad. The X3 allows the player to achieve a dark, rich sound with maximum projection and a balance that allows an “even feel” throughout the range of the instrument. X4 Bb:

S22 C:

Their most popular C trumpet model, the S22C was originally conceived with the orchestral player in mind. This popular model offers a traditional cylindrical design that creates an even, broad tonal center. Intonation is excellent throughout the register and can be used in an orchestral, chamber or solo settings. It has a .463” large bore and a 5” yellow brass bell with a #2 medium large taper. P5-4 Piccolo:

The definitive piccolo trumpet in construction and sound, the P5-4 is the reference standard for piccolo trumpets in the world today. Characterized by its superior intonation and even “feel” in all ranges, this classic model is the preferred choice of the orchestral musician and soloist. The P5-4 sound is the most recorded piccolo sound in performance over the last 30 plus years. It has a .450” medium bore and a 4” copper bell with a #8 small taper. P5-4 Butler/Geyer Piccolo:

This piccolo trumpet is the same as the P5-4 but with an additional first valve slide saddle and third valve slide ring to assist in fine-tuning. This modification was originally produced for Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer, currently Professors of Trumpet at Northwestern University. P7-4 Piccolo:

The P7-4 is an excellent choice for the performer looking for a freer, broader blowing piccolo trumpet and is ideal for both symphonic and solo performance. Blending exceptionally well with larger keyed trumpets, this model features a full 180 degree radius bell bow and is configured with a first valve saddle, third valve slide ring and two mouthpipes in Bb and A. Providing an alternative to the classic P5-4 model, the P7-4 offers the characteristic quick response and superior intonation long associated with Schilke designs. Like the P5-4, it has a .450” medium bore and a 4” copper bell with a #8 small taper. Trumpets are available in the highest quality silver or gold plated finish. E3L Eb/D Trumpet:

The E3L has been the benchmark for comparison for virtually all other Eb trumpets in the marketplace .The tuning bell construction helps provide a balanced resistance and outstanding pitch. This instrument is the favored choice of nearly every major orchestral musician and soloist in the world today. It has a .450” medium bore.
