A Powell piccolo has a reputation for producing a strong, colorful sound that is in tune on the high notes, while still projecting on the low notes. A Powell piccolo produces a dark, lyrical tone that makes the instrument sound like an extension of the flute. The Handmade Custom is available is available in either traditional grenadilla, from East Africa, or kingwood, from Brazil. It features a solid sterling silver or 9K rose gold mechanism with a split E. There are three headjoint cuts to choose from: Traditional, Profiled, or Wave.
